A Super Value for Money
I chose this hotel because of its location and affordability. We stayed there for 3 nights in a Superior room at S$54/night and booked via booking.com. Nothing special about this hotel but the rooms are clean.
The hotel is 10 minutes’ drive to old town Cebu. We used Grab taxi to move around the city. The fare from the hotel to old town is about P150. It’s around 30 minutes away from Mactan-Cebu International Airport and the taxi fare is around P200. SM City Cebu is just 3 minutes’ walk.
Our flight was delayed so we arrived at the hotel before midnight. At first, when we alighted from the taxi, we saw drinkers outside the hotel which I thought was a bar or pub. Since our son was with us, I was concerned about this and that this was not mentioned in the hotel’s details. When I approached the reception, I immediately asked the receptionist if there is a pub outside. Glad to hear that there’s no pub and they are just the hotel guests drinking. I thought the management should just allow their guests to drink in their common area, not outside the hotel.
The check-in was smooth. The lobby was bright and decorated for Christmas. They greeted us when we arrived, though I think the receptionists should be trained to start a conversation with guests during check-in, like where we came from, how was our flight, and so on. They could also give us map of the city and suggest places to visit.
No soothing music at the reception – having a background music can infuse ambiance.
On our second day, there was a function at the hotel. Getting in the lift on that day was a little bit chaotic. And the lobby too!
Good room size, functional and clean. If you need flat iron and ironing board, you need to request for it. Good Internet connection in our room.
Our room view is a container port storage and SM City Cebu.
Bathroom size is acceptable. Fitted with glass sliding door which prevents water outside the shower area. They provide complete set of toiletries.
The breakfast is from 6am to 9am only. On our first breakfast, all tables were occupied so we needed to wait for a while for an empty table. Based on my estimate, the hotel has at least 150 rooms (note: each room can accommodate two guests). Their breakfast hall capacity is around 50 and guests are only allowed to have breakfast between 6am-9am. So just imagine how crowded the breakfast area could be.
Coffee or tea not served, you need to get your own. Staff don’t refill your glass of water.
In most (if not all) hotels in the Philippines, children below a certain age can stay free of charge in the room if no additional bed is requested. However, they usually charge for breakfast. In our case, since our son is 11 years old, we needed to pay for his breakfast at adult price. (I think it was P300++. I lost my receipts and can’t remember the exact price.)
Offers lunch and dinner buffet though we didn’t try as we were always touring around the city.
The hotel has gym equipped with 2 treadmills, 2 stationary bikes, and free weights. No towels and water are provided outright. No attendant too, so you need to go down to the lobby and request for it yourself.
There’s a convenience store next to the lobby and ATM which a plus for travelers.
The staff are courteous and friendly. The hotel has lift attendant which I think not necessary.
